Sourdough Biscuits

Sourdough Biscuits

1 cup sourdough starter (see below)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 tablespoon shortening
3-4 cups flour
  1. Place flour in a bowl and add the sourdough starter.
  2. Stir in the salt, soda, sugar, and shortening. Dough should begin to form.
  3. Add flour until the dough is firm.
  4. Pinch off some dough, form a ball, and roll it in melted shortening.
  5. Place the biscuits in a Dutch oven.
  6. Allow the biscuits to rise for about 20 minutes.

Sourdough Starter

2 cups warm potato water
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon sugar
  1. Mix potato water with flour and sugar into a paste.

Potato Water

2 ea potatoes, medium-sized
3 cups water
  1. Cube potatoes.
  2. boil potatoes in water until tender.
